Introduction

Someone once asked me, “if you could travel to anywhere in the world for free where would you go first?”  That was easy!  England!  I always had an attraction to the UK and Ireland.  I loved to read novels and watch movies that were set mostly in medieval times.

One of my favorite movies set in Ireland is, “The Silent Man,” starring John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara.  It is a wonderful love story between an Irish-American and a fiesty Irish redhead.  I love watching the Starz TV series, “Outlander,” set mainly in Scotland.  It’s about an English woman from the 1940s who is suddenly transported back in time to the mid 1700s and falls in love with a handsome Scottish highlander.  This series, especially, made me feel something familiar, as if I knew these places.  This is what sparked me to make the trip.  The land was calling me.

This traveling adventure was a dream come true!  It was like stepping back in time and imagining what it was like to have lived in those ancient and medieval places.

This travel book is full of photographs and history of the places visited.
